Flow’s success lies not only in the people that work for the company but also in the range of business that the company attracts. Clients range from big corporates such as Standard Bank to attractions like the Two Oceans Aquarium, as well as charitable organisations.
BackaBuddy is a fundraising site on which teams or individuals can register as a fundraising “buddy” to any charity, and appeal to friends, colleagues and family members to sponsor their initiatives and donate funds.
BackaBuddy has raised over R7 000 000 for over 405 charities through 1 140 charity champions. Over R1.3-million has been raised for CHOC, the Childhood Cancer Association, by champions known collectively as The Cows. Over R360 000 has been raised for sports development in South Africa by Be A Sport.
Flow Communications manages the processing of payments on the BackaBuddy website, and Flow Web Developer Reatile Tshikalange deals with a variety of support queries from charities, their champions and their donors.
For him, working on this project has opened his eyes to how caring South Africans can be: “People are caring and want give to the less fortunate; this is a caring nation,” he says.
