The Sci-Bono Discovery Centre, a leading science, maths and technology education centre located in Newtown, recently released its 2011/2012 annual report. The report, a tribute to the centre’s progress and accomplishments, was designed, edited and compiled by Flow.

Flow has an array of education-orientated clients to its name, including Maropeng (visitor centre for the Cradle of Humankind), TEACH South Africa, the Catholic Insititute of Education and the Dominican Convent School (for whom we recently completed an annual school magazine).

Sci-Bono’s latest annual report was completed thanks to the skills and expertise of Flow designers Tina Brown and Alex Baker. Project manager Ros Caboz oversaw the project, ensuring the finished product was up to scratch and satisfactory.

Says Ros, “We really enjoyed working on the Sci-Bono Annual Report this year, especially as we got to do new photography at Sci-Bono for the report and marketing material. We were very pleased with the crisp and professional look and feel of the report.”

The simple, easy-to-navigate layout of the annual report, as well as the use of bright colours and photos to break up the content, speaks to the centre’s desire to impart information in an easy-to-receive manner, as Sci-Bono’s aim, after all, is to make science, maths and technology fun, interesting and accessible.

Says Alex, who played a large role in designing and formatting the colourful spreads: “Tina produced a first rate design that was well-received by the client, who requested a few tweaks here and there. There was a great variety of fantastic pics to use, which really brought life to the report.

“Considering this was my first annual report ever, the ease with which I managed to complete the project is testament to Tina’s fantastic document set-up and design, and the awesome guidance and management from Ros.”

Thandi O’’Hagan, senior PR and marketing manager for Sci-Bono, had this to say: “Thanks, Ros, for your patience. Alex had really paid attention to the tiniest detail. Thanks to you and your team.”
