The Flow family continues to grow. This month Andrea Weiss joined Flow Communications as an online writer and editor.
Before joining Flow, Andrea was at Media24 for seven years, and was managing editor of the popular travel magazines Weg and go! in her last few years there. She is a travel and tourism expert.
“I joined Flow because of its entrepreneurial spirit and because it is making big waves in the digital arena,” she says. “In life it’s always good to learn. For me, having worked mainly in print since the start of my career, joining Flow is going to be challenge – a good one! I see it as a stretch rather than a stress.”
Andrea says she loves the fact that many of Flow’s clients focus on teaching people about history, culture and the environment.
Although based in Cape Town, Andrea is spending her first week at Flow in Johannesburg, and has already got plans to visit Liliesleaf Farm and go on a bicycle tour of Alexandra.
She is also a big fan of the bush. Her favourite places include the Kruger National Park and the Kalahari. “I just love going off the beaten track. It gives you a chance to unplug and recharge.”
Andrea is married and is mom to two kids Mary (19) and Callum (21). She and her husband, Jonathan Clark, who works at the University of Cape Town, love taking walks on the mountain with their two mutts Scarlet and Charlie.
Lynnette Johns, online writer at Flow Communications Cape Town, worked with Andrea at the Cape Argus more than a decade ago when Andrea was assistant editor there. Lynnette says, “Andrea was my news editor and we worked closely together. Apart from being very clever, she has a heart of gold and is a brilliant writer. I am very excited to be working with her again.”
Flow CEO Tara Turkington says Andrea is going to add huge value to the Flow Communications team. “We are thrilled to welcome Andrea Weiss to Flow. Her journalistic and editing skills and experience will be a great asset to us and our clients. From the moment she walked in the door, she fitted in so beautifully. Her warmth, humour, experience and insight make her an awesome colleague and Flowstar.”
