Flow’s annual end-of-year bash saw the Joburg, Cape Town and Durban teams coming together to celebrate the hard work and great achievements of the past year.
Dressed in pink, staff hopped on board a City Sightseeing bus that was specially commissioned to take Flowstars on a unique “Pink Route” through Johannesburg. The route kept everyone guessing, but eventually the bus stopped along Munro Drive for a scenic photo opportunity, and then proceeded to Constitution Hill, where Flowstar and artist Kevin Collins gave a talk on the building’s unique artwork. Next, the bus travelled through Joburg’s bustling central business district, before stopping for a brief visit at the Top of Africa: the top floor of the Carlton Centre, the continent’s highest skyscraper! Finally, the bus pulled in at the SAB World of Beer where the rest of the evening’s festivities took place.
Flow’s CEO, MD and chairman presented a year in review to the team, and once formalities were out the way, the annual awards ceremony began. This year, awards were put to a popular vote, and were highly contested. Congratulations go especially to Gail Cameron, who was voted overall Flowstar of the Year.
“The Flow awards are one way of following through on the company’s values of people being our most important asset, and of honouring our fabulous people,” said Tara Turkington, Flow CEO. “I think it’s amazing that every single Flowstar was nominated by one of their peers for something, and the competition for the top awards was tough.
“There were 22 different people nominated for Flowstar of the Year. Of course, at Flow we try to take our work seriously, but not ourselves too seriously, so in this vein, the trophies were all 100% plastic.”
Our generous hosts at the SAB World of Beer then let Flowstars into their prestigious Tap Room, and as the name suggests, provided plenty of cold libations for the rest of the evening, as well as great food.
“It was my first time taking a city tour of Johannesburg,” said Flowstar Riefkah Adams. “Living in Cape Town for years, I never thought there was a replacement for the beautiful city it is, but the tour of Joburg city and surrounds made me realise how much I fall in love with Joburg each and every day!”
“It was my first Flow end-of-year bash and it was like nothing I’ve ever been to before – in a good way!” said Rebecca Nattar.
“One of the coolest things of the party was how it celebrated our client relationships,” said Cape Town manager, Kate Rau. “It was like having our special clients City Sightseeing, Constitution Hill and SAB right there at the party with us.”
Tony Rubin of the SAB World of Beer said he was honoured to have hosted Flow, while Christine Tworeck of City Sightseeing Joburg said: “Team Red loved hosting Team Pink on board!”
