Flow is excited to announce that the chickens have come home to roost.
After an action-packed pitch process that involved live chickens and the redecoration of boardrooms – but no actual insurance salespeople – Nando’s has appointed Flow PR as its public relations provider.
“I’m on a horse,” says Flow PR CEO Shoni Makhari, as he gazes handsomely into the distance while smelling deliciously of flame-grilled spice (this link may clarify that a little further).
“Flow PR is a new breed of public relations agency – the kind that completely embraces and lives its clients’ brand,” says Mike Cathie, chief marketing officer for Nando’s Southern Africa. “For example, for client Etana Insurance, Flow doesn’t just publicise the annual daREDevil Speedo run. It also fields half-naked men to participate in it, to tweet on the trot and to deliver their breathless commentary as soon as they cross the finish line.
“Nando’s has perfected the role of developing challenging marketing, and selecting our PR partner was certainly a major challenge.
“We have partnered with Flow PR to assist us in amplifying some of our ongoing initiatives, help us to further connect Nando’s with its diverse consumer base, and get the nation fired up. Jointly with the marketing team and other external agencies, they will be developing unique and creative ideas to further entrench Nando’s as the nation’s favourite chicken, and help to achieve the company’s business objectives,” adds Ashley Stansfield, senior brand manager for Nando’s South Africa.
“Our whole team is very excited and can’t wait to get stuck in,” says Tara Turkington, CEO of Flow Communications, sister company to Flow PR, as she ponders her choice of Lemon and Herb, Peri-Peri or Tangy Tomato. (Flow Communications and Flow PR will work closely together on the Nando’s account.)
