Manene nama nenekazi (ladies and gentlemen), please welcome our new Flowstar, all the way from King William’s Town in the Eastern Cape: Kolosa Vuso.
Kolosa has been in Johannesburg for only two months and has found herself a home at Flow Communications as a journalist/media developer.
She obtained a National Diploma in Journalism at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in 2010 after doing her internship at The Herald in Port Elizabeth. Shortly after her graduation, she freelanced for Drum magazine and got another internship at Women’s Health.
Her first paying job was in 2011 at Tenfour Media, where she wrote for RCS Lifestyle magazine, Clique magazine and Two Oceans magazine. “I’ve gained most of my experience at Tenfour Media,” Kolosa says. “It helped me build my confidence and character to get by in the media world.” In August 2013 she decided to resign and relocate to Johannesburg, where she “found a home at Flow Communications”, says a giggling Kolosa, adding: “I love the culture, environment and the people I work with.”
“Kolosa has a wonderful, positive energy which she injects into everything she does,” says Colin Ford, head of the Flow content team. “It’s been great having her in the team so far and we look forward to doing lots of lekker stuff together.”
When Kolosa is not at work she goes out with her sister, likes trying new restaurants, reads a lot and keeps fit by jogging. She believes that women are driving the media industry in South Africa and this inspires her, as she wants to be a game-changer in the media industry. She plans on furthering her studies and growing her expertise with the great team of writers in the studio.
