If you’ve ever heard of Australian-born James Harrison, you’ll know the importance of donating blood.
According to the Daily Mail, Harrison (now 78) underwent major chest surgery at the age of 13, and needed 13 litres of blood in the process. After his surgery he vowed that once he turned 18 he would start donating blood.
After a few donations it was discovered that he has an antibody in his plasma that prevents babies dying from Rhesus disease, a form of severe anaemia. He has since donated blood more than a thousand times, saving over 2-million babies from the disease.
Although everyone can’t save 2-million lives, at Flow we certainly did our bit. Every year we host blood drives, inviting clients, friends and family members to express their inner heroes and bleed with us. This year’s blood drives were very successful, with a total of 83 people donating blood.
We would like to thank everyone who took part in and supported our blood drives. We certainly saved some lives, and we hope that 2015 will be no different.
Every drop counts.
