The South African Society of Anaesthesiologists (SASA) is a not-for-gain member association dedicated to the furtherance of the discipline of anaesthesia at both an academic and a clinical level. SASA has been in existence since 1948 and is devoted to the welfare of its members.

Flow has been doing public relations services for SASA since 2014, including generating press releases and coverage – including Twitter and LinkedIn content – on a wide range of relevant topics, and planning and executing media events.

Press communications for SASA range from advice to consumers not to decrease medical cover to detailing concerns about insufficient investment in skills development.

One example of a successful event organised for SASA was a media breakfast to discuss the costs of safe surgery in South Africa. This led to a number of high-profile follow-up radio and television interviews.

In 2016, Flow also developed a survey for SASA with the aim of helping society to do some broad-based research, with a focus on understanding how much members of the public know about the role of anaesthesiologists in relation to their health. The survey can be accessed here:
