Flow Communications

Flow designed and maintains www.tablemountain.net, the official website for Table Mountain Cableway, which is one of Cape Town’s main tourist attractions and a favourite with locals, too.

Ferrying visitors up and down Table Mountain and serving as an access point to the famous summit, the cableway has transported more than 20-million people to date.

The cableway’s website uses e-marketing techniques such as feeds from social networking sites Flickr and Facebook, and online-ticketing solutions for the popular destination. The site is full of interesting and useful information. Current weather conditions – which determine whether or not the cable cars are operational – are displayed prominently on the site and regularly updated.

Other functionalities include a virtual tour of the mountain, live webcams and and a click-through option to vote for Table Mountain as one of the New7Wonders of Nature.

The blog is updated on a daily basis and contains the latest relevant news, images and other pieces of interest, covering anything from current rate specials to natural phenomena and human-interest stories. Posts about visits to the summit by 2010 FIFA World Cup™ fans from around the world, as well as the smattering of snow we experienced last month, have proved particularly popular.

For tour operators, we have an online ticketing portal that is specifically designed for industry members, which has replaced the previous paper-based voucher system and makes booking for large or small groups a discounted breeze.

In addition to the Cableway’s main website, Flow Communications also runs www.votefortablemountain.com, in support of Table Mountain’s bid to become one of the New7Wonders of Nature. At the same time, Flow maintains Table Mountain Cableway’s social networking on platforms like Twitter, Flickr and Facebook.

We also perform an online reputation management service for the company. Click here to read more.
