Ocean health is vital for the Earth to support life. Marine Protected Areas Day (MPA Day) on August 1, is a campaign to raise awareness about these “game reserves of the sea” which play an essential role in ocean conservation.
Operating completely pro bono, the campaign achieved almost 3 000 mentions, with content visible 79-million times online, and more than R3.5-million in AVEs – significantly higher results than those in 2021 and 2022. MPA Day grew in 2023 to involve more than a dozen countries, truly establishing it as a global environmental event.
