International Year of Quantum: awards entry video 2026

Across Africa, as elsewhere, quantum computing is poorly understood beyond computing circles and largely absent from mainstream conversation. 

But, UNESCO had chosen to mark the end of its International Year of Quantum Science and Technology with a two-day global closing ceremony in Ghana.

Our task was to ensure the continent was not merely the backdrop to this global milestone, but part of its meaning. Over four months, the team turned a complex scientific subject into a credible pan-African media story, using African experts, innovators and institutions to show that the continent was not watching the quantum future arrive, it was already helping to build it.
