Sex, Soaps and Sensationalism booklet
September 2009This 16-page booklet reports on a forum held by the HIV/AIDS and the Media Discussion Forum in 2009. The forum discussed how multiple and concurrent partnerships are portrayed in the popular media and asked, for example, whether and how soap operas influence viewers’ sexual behaviour. The forum was made up of a range of people including decision-makers from non-governmental organisations working in HIV/AIDS, soap opera writers and even a leading South African actress.
Flow’s design reflected the liveliness of the debate, summarised in a style close to verbatim.
