Maropeng Exhibition
January 2005 – April 2006Writing and editing
The Cradle of Humankind is one of seven World Heritage Sites in South Africa, and the only one in Gauteng. It is the source of many important hominid fossils which shed light on the origins and evolution of humankind.
In October 2003, the Gauteng Provincial Government entered into a contract with Maropeng a’Afrika Leisure (Pty) Ltd for the construction, design and operation of world-class visitor exhibition and recreational facilities showcasing the site.
Flow was brought in to write all the content throughout the exhibition. The Flow writers had to find simple, accessible and innovative ways to convey the complex ideas and theories associated with palaeoanthropology and human evolution. This was achieved and today over 200 people visit the exhibition daily.
The exhibition is currently being re-evaluated and Flow will play a big role in redesigning the exhibition as well as a handful of new features to add a new, exciting element to the visitor’s discovery of human history.
