Journ-AIDS website redesign

May 2009 to present

The Journ-AIDS website was developed to host the work of journalists covering HIV/AIDS issues. It is maintained by Flow on behalf of the HIV/AIDS and the Media Project at the University of the Witwatersrand.

The website was redesigned, mainly to streamline content. Flow’s design studio manager, Tina Brown, explains further: “As the main users are journalists, the website had to speak to them clearly so that they could find the information they needed rapidly, without having to wade through stuff that was not relevant to them.”

Graphic designer Lorraine Gumede adds, “It needed to look more like a news website – we wanted to feature news and make it more easily accessible, while strengthening the Journ-AIDS branding and work with their colour scheme.”

A few design elements were dropped in favour of a neat, easy to navigate page, still true to the Journ-AIDS colour palette and textures used in the previous website.
