Designed to get about 2 400 FNB Commercial staff members involved and excited for the 2010 FIFA World Cup™, the Supa Soccer campaign consisted of two online elements: a daily Trivia Challenge and a Predict the Result game.

As part of the Trivia Challenge, staff were sent a daily countdown e-mail, with interesting soccer information pertaining to the number of days until kick off, plus three trivia questions.

Encouraged to submit their answers to questions online, those who got the correct answers to all three questions stood in line to win a daily prize.

This was an incredibly successful component of the campaign, with over 4 760 entries logged before the tournament even kicked off. The e-mail was sent to 2 209 people every day, which, on average, 31.64% of people opened. Of those, 62.28% clicked on a link to play the game.

The Predict the Result game gave FNB Commercial staff an opportunity to forecast the outcome for all 64 soccer matches. For each correct prediction, they were awarded one point, and the five soothsayers with the most points at the end of competition each won an FNB-branded foosball table.

This portion of the game scored big with staff, and 3 103 match predictions were made over the course of the month-long tournament. This e-mail was sent to an average of 2 120 people every day and was opened by around 24.92% of recipients, 57.44% of whom logged onto the website to play the game.

As the sounds of Waka waka fade and the colourful flags start to come down, Flow and FNB now have some time to reflect on and account for how this campaign helped to bolster support for the 2010 FIFA World Cup™, while also creating a bit of a competitive spirit among staff. And however you do the maths, you can be sure that FNB Commercial staff count this campaign high up in the positive integers.
