Contract negotiations are done, infrastructure has been built and the design has begun:

The Two Oceans Aquarium's website The Two Oceans Aquarium's website

the time to roll out the Two Oceans Aquarium’s online ticketing system is near! Here at Flow, everyone is very much looking forward to the mid-August launch of the e-commerce side of the Aquarium’s website.

Solving the numerous challenges involved in integrating an online ticketing system with the Aquarium’s existing on-site ticketing system turned out to be a thoroughly rewarding challenge for the developers at Flow. It was Stephen Frank’s first foray into e-commerce development and it was, in his own words, “better than Warcraft III.”

The first phase of Flow’s user-friendly interface will allow fans of the Aquarium to buy their tickets online. Later, we will roll out the ability to buy Solemate memberships and to book dives, birthday parties and special events on the highly-specialised platform.

The Two Oceans’ Aquarium website, developed and maintained by Flow, launched on May 7 this year and it’s already a popular destination for Capetonians as well as citizens of the world.

Our blog, updated daily, covers a wide range of topics, including but not limited to: the antics of the Aquarium’s mascots, Silver the Shark and Terminator the Seal; guest posts by Aquarium staff and people who simply love visiting the Aquarium; in-depth pieces on aquatic animal health and conservation issues; staff biographies; and fabulous Flickr pics.

Our species library is proving very popular, too, and it seems people of all ages come to the website to learn a bit more about the denizens of the deep. Soon, they’ll be able to secure their entry by making a purchase online.
