Leon holds a National Diploma in Journalism and a B.Tech (media communications) from the Durban University of Technology. He is also currently studying towards a certificate in online PR and business communication through UNISA.

The Durbanite began his career as an intern working for the Department of Water Affairs and Forestry (DWAF). He then worked for eThekwini Municipality as a web content officer where he contributed to their monthly magazine and fortnightly publications. His career developed further when he moved back to Cape Town to act as media liaison for DWAF, but he says his most demanding position to date was as assistant marketing and PR coordinator at the Iziko Museums.

At the age of only 25, he brings a wealth of experience to his new “home.”

Tiffany Turkington-Palmer and Tara Turkington, respectively MD and CEO of Flow, say, “Leon, we look forward to your time at Flow and know that you will quickly become a key member of the Cape Town Flow team.”

When asked about his impressions of Flow, he sums it up very briefly, “I love it!” He is enthusiastic about the diverse range of great clients that Flow manages, specifically Cape Town Tourism as this is his main interest.

At Flow, Leon spends most days working on the CTT website and has been named the “attractions guy” for all the work he has put in. He also attends to the industry mailers.

He considers it a great honour to work for Flow and believes he is working with some of the most experienced and talented people in the industry. “Flow affords you the opportunity to learn on the job. I am able to integrate my skills on various projects, daily. I also love the fact that Flow uses a diverse range of skills from journalism to design and web development.”

He sees this job as a chance to gain once-in-a-lifetime experience. “I get to work with some of the best people in the country in this field,” he says.

Since moving to Cape Town he leads a healthy lifestyle by day and has become an avid hiker and cycler.  However, come nightfall and he is ready for Cape Town’s unique nightlife and cosmopolitan vibe.

Flow welcomes its new flow star Leon to the family.
