A South African footwear company is calling on big corporates and individuals to join their campaign to supply school shoes to underprivileged schoolchildren, by buying locally made flip flops (also known as slops and plakkies) in time for spring (October 1, 2011).

Barefoot No More pledges to donate one pair of school shoes for every pair of flip flops they sell. Each pair of flip flops costs R87.72, excluding VAT and delivery.
Corporates that wish to brand the flip flops can do so at a cost of R96.72 per unit (excluding VAT and delivery), provided they order at least 1 000 units. Companies can also brand the bags that will be used to deliver the shoes, at a cost of R11.50 per unit, excluding VAT and delivery.
Gareth Legg of Barefoot No More points out that there are obvious tax incentives for corporates that come on board. “We want all of South Africa to help make a difference and change the footprints of millions of children across South Africa and Africa,” he adds.
