Hundreds of men, I like. Hundreds of half naked men, I like even more… This afternoon, 4 November 2011, Flowstars Colin Ford, Stuart Dickinson, Dimitri Kouvdis, John Kazembe and Ryan Levenson took on the Etana Etana Insurance and their drive to raise awareness of prostate and testicular cancer.

Flow is a proud supporter of the daREDevil run, and our boys made us proud once again by taking to the streets of Parktown in the four kilometre run. One Flowstar, Colin Ford, was updated to goldmember status and ran the race in a special edition gold Speedo.

“It was a tough race, but it’s not about winning or looking good in this rather uncomfortable garment. It’s about raising awareness and letting people know that testicular and prostate cancer are dangerous diseases,” says journalist/media developer Stuart Dickinson.

“It’s a strangely liberating experience,” says Colin. “Running through the streets in peak hour in a Speedo is not something you’d normally do, yet it feels oddly okay when you’re in a big group and doing it for a worthy cause.”

Flow designed the official daREDevil run website in January 2010 as a pro bono project, and has continued to maintain the site on the same basis ever since. The site is used to convey news, run competitions and register participants, and includes a payment gateway for the collection of runners’ and supporters’ entry fees.

“We fully support this cause and have been happy to develop and maintain the daREDevil run website free of charge,” says Flow MD Tiffany Turkington. “Experiencing the vibe at the event today and seeing the energy and enthusiasm of the runners and supporters, I was really proud of the part that Flow has played in helping to bring it all together.”

The Etana Insurance website has more info on the Joburg, Durban and Cape Town runs, as well as a gallery of pics.
