Congratulations to Flowstars Tumi and Zintle on graduating!
Tumi Makgobathe
Tumi Makgobathe, Flow journalist and researcher, recently completed her BTech in Journalism at the Durban University of Technology, while Zintle Mtyeku, junior project manager, received her Diploma in Marketing from the IMM Graduate School of Marketing.
Tumi focused on reporting on Africa, business journalism and development journalism for her degree. She did her final research project on environmental reporting in the Durban area. She says of studying for her degree, “It has helped improve my writing and research skills, therefore allowing me to produce quality work.” She plans to further her qualifications in media and communications.
Zintle Mtyeku
Zintle learned about marketing communication, strategic marketing and business management, finding these particularly useful when she had to develop a media and marketing strategy for a client recently. “Lucky for me, my studies had everything to do with that and it allowed me to apply all the knowledge I had gained to creating the strategy for the client,” she says.
Zintle is studying further towards an IMM degree in marketing and is elated to have completed her diploma. She says: “When I first started my studies, three years felt like forever, but I’m now very proud to have graduated, as it is a great achievement and a good foundation for my future.”
Tumi and Zintle agree that it’s difficult juggling employment and studies, however with hard work and time management, it can be done.
