Over the weekend Flow staff swapped their pens, sketch pads and notebooks for shorts, tees and sneakers as they took to the streets of Joburg for the annual 702 Discovery Walk the Talk.
Now in its seventh year, this walk is one of South Africa’s biggest sports events, and aims to promote fun, family time and fitness. The walk started at Marks Park in Emmarentia and meandered through the suburbs of Greenside, Parktown, Parkhurst, Parkwood and Parkview.
Flow Journalist Tamsyn Logie who took part said, “It was great tosee so many people come out in support of a good cause. It was alsogreat to be out with everyone enjoying the sunshine.”
“Thepeople taking part in the race really represented the new South Africa,with people of all colours, cultures and ages taking part,” said FlowMedia Developer Lisa Gordon. “I was also really impressed witheveryone’s patience with the queues and traffic jams.”
Among the crowd were former Bafana Bafana captain Lucas Radebe andDeputy President Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka. Proceeds from the walk will bedonated to the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation.
