With the likes of City Press Editor Ferial Haffajee, travel writer and radio host, Kate Turkington, and Maropeng General Manager Erica Saunders among the first students attending Flow School on Tuesday night, we should’ve known the concept was going to be an instant success.
Our students had varying skill in social networking and came from vastly different professions, from insurance to media training, broadcasting to education. The medley of personalities present made for a vibrant and highly interactive session.
Flow Communications managing director, Tiffany Turkington-Palmer, presented the first session on social networking, focusing particularly on popular network, Twitter, while CEO Tara Turkington followed up with a brief introduction to Flickr, a photo-sharing application.
“We’re honoured to have such a diverse group of clients join us for our inaugural Flow School workshop. We pride ourselves in the quality of our clients and the relationship we have with them,” said Tiffany.
The general feedback from those in attendance was overwhelmingly positive, and one of the first questions fired at the evening’s end was, “Where do I sign up for the next one?”
“I haven’t had so much fun in a long time,” said an excited Anne Baker from the Catholic Institute of Education.
Delicious finger snacks and refreshments – wine being the firm favourite – were served throughout the workshop.
Upcoming workshops promise lessons in Googling to the Max and Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) for your website. A follow-up on social networking is certainly in the works too.
And Tiffany can’t wait: “We look forward to running Flow School for some of the best of the country’s minds well into the future.”
