Cape Point boasts some of the most breathtaking ocean and mountain scenery on the planet. This narrow stretch of land, dotted with beautiful valleys, bays and beaches, contains a mix of extraordinarily diverse fauna and flora and forms part of the Cape Floral Region, a World Heritage Site.

It completes Cape Town’s “Big Six” attractions, along with Table Mountain, Robben Island, the V&A Waterfront, Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden and the Constantia Vineyards.

Flow was enthusiastic and excited about putting together new brochures in time for the Indaba tourism expo, for this premier tourist attraction for our long-standing client, the Thebe Tourism Group.

As with most Flow work, this was a team effort, in which the artistic talents of our design studio head, Janet Berger, were put to good use in the atmospheric sketches of the Flying Dutchman legend, about a ghost ship that haunts Cape Point. Flow staff members’ photographic skills were showcased, along with content and research by Christine Marot and Tara Turkington and creative design by Ernie Joseph.

The Cape Point Partnership (CPP) was formed in 2003, which saw the Thebe Tourism Group (TTG) partner with Concor and the South African National Parks to run the iconic Cape Point attraction. Concor and its CPP operating company Tolcon brought a wealth of experience to the operational side of the business, while TTG added its marketing expertise and solid reputation to the mix.

With an expected increase in the number of tourists to Cape Town for the 2010 FIFA Soccer World Cup™, the timing was right to revitalise brochures promoting Cape Point and its brand-new funicular railway.

This was a wonderful project to work on as we had ample visuals and information available to us, and it helped to solidify the new Flying Dutchman theme and branding, which we first introduced when we produced Cape Point’s new website, www.capepoint.co.za, earlier this year.
