Flow moves ahead with International Aquarium Congress website

6 Sep 2010

Two Oceans Aquarium, one of Flow’s newest clients, has won the bid to host the eighth International Aquarium Congress (IAC) in 2012. This prestigious congress, which takes place every four years, attracts key players worldwide from aquariums and from the field of aquatic animal husbandry.

Flow is now in the throes of developing the website for the 2012 IAC, a website that will combine great functionality – including in-depth information on Cape Town as the host city and South Africa as the host country – as well as a registration portal that will make bookings and uploading abstracts a breeze once these phases kick in.

As part of the web development for this project, we are designing the digital IAC newsletter and coordinating the content and distribution from our side.

It’s a very challenging two-year project that will grow in scope and depth as various elements come together.

Developing the structure and navigation for the website proved interesting. We wanted to create a simple user journey that would herald the 2012 congress and the myriad complex activities associated with it over the next two years, without detracting from the congress itself.

The primary navigation was therefore carefully designed to outline the key areas of interest: registration and sponsorship, the history and mission of the IAC, and news.

Flow will once again be instrumental in providing regular updates to the site as the time for the eighth IAC draws near.

We are also putting together three extensive image galleries showcasing South Africa, Cape Town and the Two Oceans Aquarium, to communicate to potential delegates that beyond the congress South Africa offers a wealth of experience for the aquatically minded.
