Flow is proud to announce that the Catholic Institute of Education (CIE), a non-governmental organisation dedicated to driving values-based, quality education within the Catholic schools’ network in South Africa, has launched its new website.
Tumi Makgobathe, a Flow journalist and media developer, managed the job of co-ordinating and uploading the site’s content. “I enjoyed working on this site; it’s always great to have organised clients who are on the ball and make the process a smooth one,” she says. “The challenge lay in engaging with completely new subject matter, but we delivered on a really tight deadline without compromising content.”
The new site is easy to navigate, with dedicated sections profiling who the CIE is, the schools in their network, and areas of focus. It also features the latest gallery images and school support materials, giving readers access to relevant policies, resources, publications, research and reports.
The website was launched last week at a dinner during a large education conference organised by the CIE in Johannesburg. The dinner was attended by more than 100 people, mostly principals, and the guest speaker was Standard Bank CEO Sim Tshabalala, who gave an inspirational talk on the role teachers need to play in preparing learners for business and to be good citizens.
Dimitri Kouvdis, who has recently joined Flow and who was responsible for developing and coding the site, said: “This was a challenging project because it was my responsibility to ensure that everything ran smoothly. As my first major project at Flow, this was a steep learning curve and I want to thank Project Manager Roshni Nana and the Frank brothers – Flow programming Studio Manager Richard Frank and Web Developer Stephen Frank – for their advice and input.”
Since the launch of the website, it is now even easier to get in touch with the CIE; the site lists the contact details of all offices, and visitors are invited to get involved.
The front page will regularly feature schools within the Catholic schools’ network in South Africa. If you work in a Catholic school and would like your school to be featured, please contact the CIE directly.
