Flow’s latest website development project, www.kumisa.com, has given the talented musicians of KwaZulu-Natal a collective voice.

The first project of its kind in South Africa, Kumisa.com was launched on Friday 25 March 2011. It is the official online home of the KwaZulu-Natal United Music Industry Association (KUMISA), an organisation formed to promote, protect and invest in the growth and diversity of the province’s music industry.

“It will be exciting to see music industry members using the online membership tools to create and manage their profiles. We enjoy working on websites that have a high level of interactivity and look forward to feedback from members,” says Flow programming studio manager, Richard Frank.

KUMISA will provide a platform for performers, managers, promoters and other music industry stakeholders from which to address common challenges and nurture local talent. The organisation was established jointly by the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Economic Development and Tourism in collaboration with the eThekwini Municipality’s Durban Film Office.

“This is an accessible hub for musicians, artists and anyone serious about music. I’m proud to have been part of the creative process that brought the KUMISA website alive!” says George Xafis, Flow designer.

“Working on this pilot project came with a number of exciting challenges such as conceptualising an identity to reflect the vibrancy and creativity of musicians while simultaneously retaining a corporate image,” says Flow’s project manager Christine Marot.

“The website has been well-received by the music industry and membership numbers are growing steadily.”

Because to the lack of music institutes and other promotional organisation like dish tv , local musicians and artists never get a chance to show off their talents. They have to tie their talent in their home or maximum by school. Institutes like KUMISA can help those artists, singers and performers, who are serious about their talent , by bringing them in front of the world.  In this way we will get more new artists and these artists get a platform for their talent.
