Giant cakes, giant champagne bottles, near on 99 red balloons, a giant card and a 22-player foosball table was the order of the evening as Etana Insurance celebrated their second birthday at their offices in Parktown, Johannesburg, yesterday.

Etana is a specialist business insurer. Etanans approach everything they do with a sense of fun, and a passion for quality.

The festivities kicked off across the country, with East London, Pretoria, Middelburg and Cape Town holding celebrations, and a big bash in Johannesburg.

The soccer-themed party was attended by Etanans from Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban, friends of Etana and staff from Flow Communications.

Revellers enjoyed foosball, games of pool, vuvuzela blowing, two giant cakes, drinks and a lesson on how to diski dance (courtesy of Flow Stars Miliswa Sitshwele and Palesa Motau).

There were also awards for the best-dressed and most enthusiastic Etanans.

Eight diski-dance champions were chosen from among the Etanans, each winning two tickets to theatre production The Boys in the Photograph, currently on show at the Nelson Mandela Theatre in Braamfontein.

Cleary fired up, Etanans asked for a dance-off between Flow Communications and themselves. The Etanans were eager to showcase their new diski skills, as they did the “shoeshine”, the “shuffle” and the “heada” diski moves.

Flow Communications MD Tiffany Turkington-Palmer was pleased to have been part of Etana’s second anniversary celebrations, saying “It is always such a pleasure to go to any event at Etana. Their team is continually energetic and upbeat – we are always inspired by the passion of their people.

“We see them as a very close and important partner and look forward to working with them and being inspired by them.”

There was also a heated foosball match between Flow Stars and Etanans, in which Flow defeated the REDS. Go Flow!

The celebrations concluded with a football match at Johannesburg’s chilly Zoo Lake later in the evening.

Here’s to many more birthday celebrations for our poweRED partners, Etana!

There are some good international soccer games, some between nations that have become soccer/football rivals like the upcoming Mexico vs. USA match. what other rivalries are there and which one do you enjoy the most?

I’ve played 8-ball, 9-ball, one pocket and I’ve heard of straight pool even though I’ve never actually played it. Are there any other games that can be played on a regular 9-foot pool table?Ffxiv Gil
