Flow helps HUMA promote the humanities

Whether big or small, Flow does it all. From creating websites with multiple pages and sites within sites to a one-page website, Flow is eager to please every client that walks through its doors.
HUMA, the Institute for Humanities in Africa, launched its website, developed by Flow Communications, last week. HUMA is a new initiative by the University of Cape Town (UCT) that aims to promote creativity and drive debate within the humanities by fostering an active interdisciplinary community for students and academics alike. To this end, it holds the Africa Media Leadership Conference, an annual gathering of senior media professionals from across the continent, hosted this year in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, from September 26 – 29. Flow’s star-studded portfolio gets a new sparkle

At Flow, we pride ourselves on our diversity of clients and the interesting range of work we produce. A recent addition to this expansive portfolio was the Alexkor 2009/10 Annual Report.
Alexkor is a diamond mining company that works both on and off land, along rivers, on beaches, and in the sea along the northwest coast of South Africa. The company is run as a public entity, with the South African state as the sole shareholder, and is involved in secondary activities such as residential and community services, outside engineering, external transport services and guest houses. The company also operates an airport and fuel station to service communities in and around Alexander Bay and Port Nolloth. Read more…

Flow launches HIV/AIDS awareness film website

Flow’s graphic designers, journalists and programmers recently developed a website for the Sonke Gender Justice Network to showcase Protection, an educational film about HIV/AIDS.
The documentary film, made by award-winning South African filmmaker Francois Verster and producer Neil Brand and his team at Fireworx Media, aims to raise awareness of condom use as a strategy to help men and boys avoid HIV infection. Read more…

Promoting Cape Town’s travel industry
Among a number of ongoing email campaigns, Flow Communications sends out a monthly newsletter on behalf of Cape Town Tourism, which promotes Cape Town to the international travel industry. The Top Tips for Travel Trade newsletter is one you should subscribe to if you are involved in inbound tours to Cape Town.
This newsletter is distributed to travel agents around the world and is aimed at assisting them in sourcing accommodation and activity ideas for their clients. In turn, this benefits the Cape Town travel industry.
The August newsletter was sent to nearly 900 subscribers and provided information about what to do in Cape Town during winter, while promoting various special offers available during the winter months. Read more…

Flow School focuses on Twitter

Delegates from Flow clients Dominican Convent School, the Support Public Broadcasting Coalition and online giving site BackaBuddy were among the students at this month’s Flow School, which focused on engaging customers on Twitter and Flickr.

With the likes of City Press Editor Ferial Haffajee, travel writer and radio host, Kate Turkington, and Maropeng General Manager Erica Saunders among the first students attending Flow School on Tuesday night, we should’ve known the concept was going to be an instant success.
Our students had varying skill in social networking and came from vastly different professions, from insurance to media training, broadcasting to education. The medley of personalities present made for a vibrant and highly interactive session. Read more…

Flow Communications has been very busy preparing Cape Town Tourism’s website for the 2010 FIFA World Cup™, which kicks off on June 11 in Johannesburg and Cape Town.The front page of the mini-site features a countdown clock, displaying how long, to the second, until kick off.
The 2010 FIFA World Cup™ mini-site provides football fans and visitors to Cape Town, with all they need to know about the event, including where to stay, how to get around, as well as what to see and do while in Cape Town. Join Cape Town Tourism on YouTube

Cape Town Tourism is one of Flow’s biggest clients. We have been appointed on a two-year contract to be the tourism organisation’s web and e-marketing partner, and at the centre of this is Cape Town Tourism’s popular website, www.capetown.travel. One of the aspects of e-marketing we’re currently focusing on is Cape Town Tourism’s YouTube channel, and we’re now uploading new videos showcasing Cape Town and some of its beautiful attractions to the channel on a regular basis.
