Flow PR on the launch of the latest HSRC studies

On Friday, February 3, Flow PR was on the front line as our client, the Human Sciences Research Council, launched two of by far the most important studies in South Africa. These studies will look at our behaviour around major health issues including HIV, and gather information to help the government, at the highest level, develop policies and programmes that, among other things, will curtail the spread of HIV across all age, race and cultural groups. Media release: Human Sciences Research Council – Strategic national health surveys hit the road

Two significant national surveys will be conducted by the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) this year. The principal investigators of both studies are Dr Olive Shisana, CEO of the HSRC, Professor Leickness Simbayi, Professor Demetré Labadarios and Professor Thomas Rehle. The team have officially launched the start of the studies in Cape Town, and have invited all households approached by the researchers to assist in answering the important questions posed during face-to-face interviews. This Heritage Weekend, I visited the Soweto Festival Expo. Now in its seventh year, the event was held at the recently renovated Joburg Expo Centre at Nasrec. The main aim of the festival was to promote SMMEs in Soweto and to develop them by providing them with access to markets and training in small business management.
