Flowstars graduate

Congratulations to Flowstars Tumi and Zintle on graduating!

Tumi Makgobathe, Flow journalist and researcher, recently completed her BTech in Journalism at the Durban University of Technology, while Zintle Mtyeku, junior project manager, received her Diploma in Marketing from the IMM Graduate School of Marketing.

Tumi focused on reporting on Africa, business journalism and development journalism for her degree. She did her final research project on environmental reporting and has found this to be quite useful in her daily work, saying, “It has helped improve my writing and research skills, therefore allowing me to produce quality work.” She plans to further her qualifications in media and communications. Join Cape Town Tourism on YouTube

Cape Town Tourism is one of Flow’s biggest clients. We have been appointed on a two-year contract to be the tourism organisation’s web and e-marketing partner, and at the centre of this is Cape Town Tourism’s popular website, www.capetown.travel. One of the aspects of e-marketing we’re currently focusing on is Cape Town Tourism’s YouTube channel, and we’re now uploading new videos showcasing Cape Town and some of its beautiful attractions to the channel on a regular basis.

Flow welcomes Judith Browne!

Judith Browne joined Flow this week as a sub-editor and is excited by the variety and scope of the projects she’ll be working on here.

Judith holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Marketing and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in English Literature from the University of the Witwatersrand. She went on to complete her Master’s in Modern Literature and Culture, focusing on South African literature, at the University of York in the United Kingdom. Despite her qualifications, she still believes “The School of Life and Hard Knocks” is the most effective teacher. Read more…

This year’s Tourism Indaba was particularly exciting for Flow Communications as we had five of our clients exhibiting at the well-attended annual event held at the Durban International Convention Centre (ICC) this weekend.

People deal with stress in different ways: some vent, some make a soothing cup of tea, while others just go for a drive.

Here at Flow Communications, we play foosball (also known to some as table soccer).

The foosball table in our Jo’burg office – kindly given to us by Etana Insurance as a Christmas present last year – is fondly known as the “foozie table” and it’s where we go to unwind. Read more…

Cofisa aims to improve local innovation systems

Cofisa (formally the Cooperation Framework on Innovation Systems between Finland and South Africa) is an initiative between Finland and South Africa, aiming to improve local innovation systems. The programme has been running for the past few years and intends to bring European expertise to the South African context, to help local people find ways to solve their problems and address their issues in a constructive manner.

The Cofisa book was a summary of the exercises embarked on and lessons learned from the process.  Read more…
